Lingjun Rao

I grew up in Sichuan, the hometown of panda and hot pot, in the southwest of China. Then I went to Tianjin University for my undergraduate studies in Bioengineering. After that I moved to Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, China Academy of Sciences to pursue my PhD in Dr. Lei Xiao's lab, focus on the pluripotency and differentiation potential of human pluripotent stem cells. I finished my PhD in Jan 2013 and joined Dr. Bursac's lab in Sep 2013. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, swimming and hiking.

My current project is focused on generating functional skeletal muscle bundles with cells derived from human pluripotent stem cells for drug development, disease modeling and implantation therapies.
